Lesson : The Stork and the Fox

  • Pictures of a fox and a stork
  • Flash cards with new words
  • Chart paper

Pre-Knowledge Test:

  • Have you heard any animal stories before?
  • What does kindness mean?
  • How should we treat our friends and guests?
  • What happens when we behave badly with others?

Introduction:

The teacher will begin with a short discussion on good manners and hospitality. Students will be asked how they welcome guests at home. Then the teacher will introduce the story “The Stork and the Fox”.


Concept building:

  • The teacher will read the story aloud with proper pronunciation and expression.
  • Students will read the story paragraph by paragraph.
  • Difficult words like invited, prepared, treated, hungry, and realized will be explained.
  • The teacher will explain the sequence of events in the story.
  • Students will discuss how the fox behaved with the stork and how the stork later behaved with the fox.
  • The moral lesson “Treat others the way you want to be treated” will be explained.
  • The teacher will ask questions such as:
    • Why could the stork not eat the food at the fox’s house?
    • How did the stork serve food to the fox?
    • What lesson did the fox learn at the end?

Consolidation and Reinforcement:

  • Students will retell the story in their own words.
  • Important dialogues from the story will be repeated.
  • The teacher will revise difficult words and meanings.
  • The moral lesson about kindness and good behaviour will be reinforced.

Practice:

  • Read the story aloud.
  • Write the meanings of five difficult words.
  • Answer short questions from the lesson.
  • Write the moral of the story.
  • Enact the story through role play in class.
