Pre-Knowledge Test (5 min)
Teacher asks:
- Who is in your family?
- What do you call your father’s father?
- Who cooks food in your home?
- Do you have a pet?
- Can you name five family members?
(Expected responses: Father, Mother, Brother, Sister, Grandfather, Grandmother, etc.)
Introduction (GRR – I Do) (10 min)
Teacher displays the picture and models picture reading.
Teacher says:
- “This is a family.”
- “The grandfather is reading a newspaper.”
- “The grandmother is knitting.”
- “The father is reading.”
- “The boy is combing his hair.”
- “The girl is watching television.”
Teacher introduces new words: Family, grandfather, grandmother, father, mother, brother, sister, pet, newspaper, mirror, television.
ELPS Integration
- Listening: Listen to teacher’s description.
- Speaking: Repeat new words with correct pronunciation.
- Reading: Read the words from flashcards.
- Writing: Copy five new words.
Concept Building (GRR – We Do) (15 min)
Teacher and students observe the picture together.
Teacher asks:
- Who is reading the newspaper?
- Who is combing his hair?
- What animal do you see?
- How many people are there?
- What is the girl doing?
Students answer in complete sentences:
- The grandfather is reading a newspaper.
- The boy is combing his hair.
- I can see a cat.
- There are six people.
- The girl is watching television.
Teacher writes sentence patterns:
- This is my ________.
- He is ________.
- She is ________.
- I love my family.

- Pair discussion.

Consolidation and Reinforcement (GRR – You Do Together) (10 min)
Students work in pairs.
