SC on the ‘Governor’s Power’ to Withhold Bills
In a significant constitutional clarification, the Supreme Court held that a Governor cannot “sit on a bill” indefinitely. If the Governor withholds assent, they must return the bill to the Assembly “as soon as possible” for reconsideration (Article 200).
