Lesson : The Joy of Helping

Introduction:
The teacher will begin with a discussion on kindness and helping others. Students will be asked to share experiences where they helped someone. Then the teacher will introduce the lesson “The Joy of Helping”.
Concept building:
- The teacher will read the lesson aloud with proper pronunciation and expression.
- Students will read the lesson paragraph by paragraph.
- Difficult words like contribute, distress, earthquake, volunteers, and assembled will be explained.
- The teacher will explain the events in the lesson.
- The importance of helping disaster-affected people will be discussed.
- Students will discuss different ways of helping people in need.
- The teacher will ask questions such as:
- What did the headmaster announce?
- What did the students decide to contribute?
- How did the affected people feel after getting help?
- Why did Raju feel happy?
Consolidation and Reinforcement:
- Students will retell the story in their own words.
- Important values like kindness, sharing and cooperation will be reinforced.
- Difficult words and meanings will be revised.
- The moral lesson of helping others will be discussed again.
Practice:
- Read the lesson aloud.
- Write the meanings of five difficult words.
- Write five sentences on “Helping Others”.
- Answer short questions from the lesson.
- Draw a picture showing people helping others during a disaster.
