Pre-Knowledge Test:

Teacher asks—

  • Do all people wear the same dress?
  • Do people speak the same language in India?
  • What is our National Flag called?
  • Why should we live together peacefully?

Learners respond orally.


Introduction:

Teacher shows the picture from the textbook where children of different cultures are standing together near the National Flag.

Teacher discusses—

  • different dresses
  • different languages
  • different foods
  • living together happily

Teacher introduces the poem “We All Belong” and explains that India is a land of unity in diversity.


Concept Building:

Teacher recites the poem aloud with proper rhythm and expression.

Learners listen carefully and repeat stanza by stanza.

Teacher explains the difficult words—

  • blend
  • tale
  • belong
  • diversity

Teacher explains each stanza:

Stanza 1:

Children may come from different places and speak different languages, but they stay happy together.

Stanza 2:

Every child has different talents and abilities, and all are important.

Stanza 3:

Children learn to care, share and respect different cultures and foods.

Stanza 4:

Though people speak different languages, friendship and unity make everyone strong.

Teacher highlights the moral of the poem— “Unity in Diversity.”

Learners practice loud reading and group recitation.


Consolidation and Reinforcement:

Teacher asks oral questions—

  • What do the children say in the poem?
  • What does “diversity” mean?
  • Why are all children special?
  • What message do we learn from the poem?

Teacher reinforces that people may be different in language, dress, food and culture, but all belong together.
