Introduction:

The teacher will show pictures of ants and grasshoppers and ask learners what they know about them. Learners will discuss the habits of ants. Then the teacher will introduce the story “The Grasshopper and the Ant”.


Concept Building:

  • The teacher will read the story aloud with proper expression.
  • Learners will read the lesson paragraph by paragraph.
  • Difficult words will be explained:
    • collect = gather
    • neighbour = nearby friend
    • winter = cold season
    • stored = kept safely
  • The teacher will explain how the ants worked hard during summer while the grasshopper wasted time singing and dancing.
  • Learners will discuss the importance of hard work and saving for the future.
  • The moral of the story will be explained: “Work hard today to avoid problems tomorrow.”
