Introduction:
The teacher will begin with a discussion on sports and teamwork. Students will be asked about their favourite games and experiences in sports. Then the teacher will introduce the lesson “The Joy of Living”.
Concept building:
- The teacher will read the lesson aloud with proper pronunciation and expression.
- Students will read the lesson paragraph by paragraph.
- Difficult words like referee, goalkeeper, injured, signalled, and sportsmanship will be explained.
- The teacher will explain the sequence of events in the football match.
- Students will discuss Tarun’s honesty and kindness during the game.
- The importance of fair play and helping others will be discussed.
- The teacher will ask questions such as:
- Which team did Tarun play for?
- Why did Tarun stop before kicking the ball?
- What did the referee say about Tarun’s action?
- What lesson do we learn from the story?
Consolidation and Reinforcement:
- Students will retell the story in their own words.
- Important values like honesty, kindness and sportsmanship will be reinforced.
- Difficult words and meanings will be revised.
- The teacher will discuss why winning is not more important than humanity.
