Pre-Knowledge Test (5 minutes)

Ask learners:

  2. Which food is healthy?
  3. Which food is unhealthy?
  4. Why should we eat fruits and vegetables?

(Expected responses: Fruits, vegetables, milk, healthy food keeps us strong.)


Introduction (I DO – Teacher Modelling) – 10 minutes

GRR Stage: I DO

Teacher:

  • Shows pictures of fruits, vegetables, ice cream, soft drinks and noodles.
  • Asks students to identify healthy and unhealthy foods.
  • Reads the first part of the lesson aloud with correct pronunciation and expression.
  • Explains that good health depends on healthy food and good habits.

  • Listening: Listen to the teacher’s reading.
  • Speaking: Name food items.
  • Vocabulary: health, diet, fruits, vegetables, lentils, junk food, exercise, healthy.

Concept Building (WE DO – Guided Practice) – 20 minutes

Teacher and students read the lesson together.

Guided Discussion

  • Why was Lipika absent during the holidays?
  • What did the doctor advise her?
  • Which foods should we eat every day?
  • Why should we avoid junk food?
  • What other habits keep us healthy?

  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Exercise daily.
  • Sleep well.
  • Maintain personal hygiene.

Students listen to the conversation between Gargi, Lipika and the teacher.
