In this blog, we walk you through why to participate, how to register, key timelines, themes, and tips to ace your submission.
1. What is Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025?
Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 is a nationwide innovation hackathon organized by the Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education, in partnership with Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, and AICTE.
It aims to engage students from classes 6 to 12 across India in creating solutions aligned with the national vision of a “Developed India (Viksit Bharat)”.
By participating, students get a platform to ideate, prototype, present, and possibly take their ideas forward under mentorship and recognition.
2. Why Participate?
Real-world problem solving: Work on challenges that matter at local or national level.
Mentorship & support: Leverage support from schools, incubators, innovation hubs. For example, AIC π-Hub at RRCAT is mentoring student teams in its region.
Recognition & rewards: More than 1,000 top innovators will be felicitated in January 2026.
Enhance your learning journey: You’ll gain experience in ideation, prototyping, pitching, design thinking, and collaboration.
Be part of a national movement: This is being billed as one of the largest synchronized school innovation events in the country.
3. Themes: What You Can Innovate On
Your innovation should align with one (or more) of these four broad themes:
Atmanirbhar Bharat — ideas supporting self-reliance in India
Swadeshi — indigenous, home-grown solutions
Vocal for Local — promoting local products, local strengths
Samriddhi (Prosperity) — sustainable growth, inclusion, well-being
Think about local problems in your area — environment, education, health, agriculture, social inclusion — and how technology + design can help.
