Pre-Knowledge Test:

Ask learners:

• “Do you know what ‘reader’, ‘player’, ‘singer’ mean?”

This will connect their prior knowledge to the lesson.




Introduction:

Show children the picture of the playground (page 110).
Ask:
• “What are the children doing?”
• “Which games can you identify?”
• “Have you ever played tug-of-war or skipping?”

Then show the ‘-er’ word chart.
Explain:
When we add ‘-er’ to some verbs, it becomes a noun — a person who does that action.

Example: read → reader

Part A — Word Formation with ‘-er’ (Page 109)

Teacher explanation:
When ‘-er’ is added:

read → reader

play → player

seek → seeker

teach → teacher

learn → learner

sing → singer


Activity:
Students add ‘-er’ to all given words.
