a. *What is a hobby?*
Ans:- Hobbies are activities that give us fun and joy, pursued during leisure time for pleasure or relaxation.
b) *What do hobbies give us?*
Ans:- Hobbies give us pleasure, fun, and joy, and help us use our free time fruitfully.
c). *What is philately? What difficulty would you face if you take up philately?*
Ans:- Philately is collecting and studying stamps. The difficulty is that modern communication systems have reduced letter writing, making stamps less common.
d). *What is Irfan’s hobby? What does he like to do?*
Ans:- Irfan’s hobby is painting. He likes to paint landscapes.
e). *Name a few indoor and outdoor hobbies.*
Ans:- Indoor hobbies: collecting stamps, listening to music, reading.
Outdoor hobbies: gardening, traveling, swimming.
f) *What is a kitchen garden?*
Ans:- A kitchen garden is a garden where vegetables are grown for domestic consumption.
g) *“Every morning I water the plants and clean the beds.” – What does ‘beds’ mean here?*
Ans:- ‘Beds’ refers to garden beds where plants are grown.
2) Synonyms

4. Let’s play a game. (Oral Activity)
This is an oral and group activity to be conducted in the classroom.
Objective: Students are to sit in groups based on their hobbies and discuss why they like that hobby and how they pursue it. 
Process: One participant will start with a sentence about their hobby, and the next participant will continue the presentation, ensuring group interaction and communication.
5. Parveen’s hobby is baking. Fill in the blanks in the paragraph below with words that rhyme with bake, such as shake:
Juri said to Parveen, “Please tell me how to bake a cake.”
Parveen replied, “Preheat the oven to 350°F and gather all the ingredients you need to make a cake. Take 2 cups of flour, 4 eggs, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup butter or oil, 1 teaspoon baking powder and vanilla essence. You will need a cake pan and a sieve too. Put the flour and baking powder into the sieve. Shake the sieve to remove lumps, if any. Cream the butter and sugar. Add a few drops of vanilla essence. Take care to make the mixture light and creamy. Beat in the eggs and take them one at a time. Add the dry mixture to the wet mixture little by little. Don’t forget to grease the cake pan and dust it with flour. Then take the smooth mixture and pour it into the pan. Place the mixture in the oven till your cake turns golden brown.”
6) Now, think of a place you want to visit during your vacation and prepare your itinerary:

7. Try to use these idioms: a blessing in disguise, bag and baggage, beat about the bush.

Stop beating about the bush and tell me exactly what the problem is.
8. Now read the lesson and write in the box the words ending with the following suffixes:

9. Read the lesson and locate the sentences where the following phrasal verbs beginning with ‘take’ occur. Then write the sentences and frame sentences of your own using these phrasal verbs.
